Mr. Tanman and the "we support the mega wealthy" Mr. Graham go steaming along like the ass*s they are, while the half ex-governor (the "elect me and I'll quit" candidate) of Alaska and some old crusty, nearly invalid, emptiest head since George Jr., and failed Republican "best to offer" candidate spends 20 million to get an 80k job in Airheadzona (and complain about deficits while doing so)....steam proudly along and act like nothing ever happened before Obama. Forget about the past 10 year and refocus of imperfections of the past year and a half. All the lot screams for tax relief for the mega wealthy while complaining about deficits (except when they are the recipients of MORE cash). Is it any wonder our smoke and mirrors economy is anything except a bad joke?
Mr. O is in campaign mode now though, so at least he'll make no bones about shining a light on the cockroaches as they scatter. It'll be great entertainment anyway as we watch the right run on nothing but greed and hypocrisy as is the norm. According to the news, other countries could also find themselves in similar troubles over the next few years. Was it because Greece's debt was close to or above its GDP that made it near unable to pay its debt??

In a recent article i read, it noted "...U.S. public debt, already three times its relative size three decades ago, is fast approaching 100% of GDP".

I think it has only happened twice in our country’s history that the party in power hasn’t lost seats in congress in the midterms. In addition to that, there are vastly more Democrats than Republicans up for re-election this election. Given that, Democratic losses are almost inevitable.

If I were Obama, I’d take a page from the Bush/Cheney playbook and call the head of Homeland Security and arbitrarily raise the terror threat in order to scare people into voting for the incumbents. Tom Ridge admitted doing exactly that on the eve of the 2004 election after being pressured from above and stated that he had no idea why he was raising the threat level even though he was the head of Homeland Security.

As this teeny little group argues about politics and what should be done, what is best for the country etc. what are we really doing? Putting it into the hands of elected officials in the long run. These people are known as politicians and work for the government in some capacity.

They put into place the laws that "fix" things. The problem is we all have differernt views as to what needs to be "fixed" and how to "fix" it. Alas, the bottom line is that it falls into the hands of government and what particular government happens to be in power.

We have a voice but our politicians don't always hear us now do they. SO it falls into the hands of the government. We don't always agree do we folks? Still the government DOES make the decisions - there's really no denying it.
Folks can turn to civil disobedience, for example, and perhaps get a law overturned. Who would overturn that law? The government.

As silly as Tom C's remark might sound it's horribly true. It really doesn't matter who or what you believe in.

Police: NY cabbie is asked if he's Muslim, stabbed

NEW YORK — A drunken passenger riding in a New York City taxi cab attacked the driver after asking him if he was Muslim, police said Wednesday.
The driver told police that when he answered yes, Michael Enright pulled out a folding hand tool, reached into the front seat and slashed him.
Enright was arrested Tuesday night on charges including attempted murder as a hate crime, said Deputy Inspector Kim Royster, a New York Police Department spokeswoman.
The driver was treated for cuts to the throat, upper lip, forearm and thumb, Royster said.
The 21-year-old Enright, of suburban Brewster, N.Y., was expected to appear Wednesday in court in Manhattan. The name of his lawyer was not immediately available.
The New York Taxi Workers Alliance identified the victim as Ahmed H. Sharif, a yellow cab driver for 15 years. In a news release, the labor group noted that the incident occurred amid tension over plans for a new Islamic cultural center and mosque in Lower Manhattan near ground zero.
"I feel very sad," the release quoted Sharif as saying. In the current climate, he added, "All drivers should be more careful."
Police said the mosque wasn't mentioned during the incident that began at about 6 p.m. Tuesday when Enright hailed the cab at East 24th Street and Second Avenue.
Enright was carrying a tool called a Leatherman and, after the exchange about the driver being Muslim, turned it on him, police said. The driver fended him off, then tried to lock him inside the cab and drive to a police station, they said.
The suspect jumped out a rear window at East 40th Street and Third Avenue, police said. An officer there noticed the commotion, found Enright slumped on the sidewalk and arrested him.
